BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo State women's volleyball team swept another SUNYAC opponent, this time the SUNY Delhi Broncos, 3-0, clinching a SUNYAC playoff bid on Senior Day.
Ella Wittman (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Springville-Griffith) continued her strong weekend, leading all players with 17 kills. Also contributing was Delia Lake (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore), who finished with seven kills.
Alex Arroyo (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown East) led the way with 26 assists, while Lily Tierney (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville North) added 10 assists.
Defensively, Adiari Vergara (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico) led the Bengals with 10 digs, while Arroyo and Kate Rutigliano (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each finished with two total blocks.
After taking down the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons last night, the Bengals returned to Sports Arena to host the SUNY Delhi Broncos for Senior Day.
The Bengals opened the first set in familiar fashion this season, storming out on the Broncos behind a four-point run and a six-point run. Those spurts propelled the Bengals past the Broncos, and they used another four-point run to claim the first set.
The second set followed a similar script, as the Bengals outplayed the Broncos throughout, using a 10-point run to take the set with their eyes on a sweep.
In the final set, the Bengals jumped out quickly once again, using a five-point run to hold the lead late into the set. The Broncos responded with a four-point rally and capitalized on Buffalo State errors to create a tight finish, but the Bengals returned to strong play to close out the Broncos and secure a Senior Day win. The victory also officially clinched Buffalo State's spot in the SUNYAC playoffs, with final seeding to be determined in its remaining SUNYAC matchups.
For the foes
Skyler Furtado and Nevelle Taylor each finished with seven kills, with Peyton Bruce leading the Broncos with 15 assists.
Defensively, Taylor also led Delhi with six digs.

The Bengals will close out their regular-season home slate by hosting their "Battle by the Lake" rivals, the Fredonia Blue Devils, on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m.
