PLEASANT HILL— The Santiam Christian boys basketball team opened its season on the right foot as the Eagles defeated Pleasant Hill 69-51 on Friday night.
The Eagles (1-0) host Portland Adventist Academy on Tuesday.

PORTLAND — Harrisburg couldn't build on its season-opening win against Monroe as the Eagles fell to Catlin Gabel in nonleague play.
The Eagles (1-1) are back in action on Monday against Oakridge.

Jefferson 60, Gaston 34
GASTON — Jefferson won its second straight game as the Lions thoroughly handled Gaston.
The Lions (2-0) continue nonleague play at Willamina on Tuesday.
West Albany split a pair of nonconference home duals Thursday night to open its season.
The Bulldogs defeated Lebanon 46-27 and fell to Redmond 46-29.
Senior Sawyer Myres went 2-0 at 145 pounds with a forfeit victory and a pin of Lebanon’s Seth Burton in 1 minute, 44 seconds. Teammates Trona Free (152) and Caulin Leach (195 and 220) also went 2-0.
The Warriors also lost to Redmond, dropping a 40-33 decision.
The West Albany swim teams swept North Salem in a dual meet on Friday.
Taylor Kelley won the 200 IM and 100 freestyle and Eve Vetter won the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke for the West Albany girls.
For the boys, Braxton Reece took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and Kieran Van Horsen won the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke.
