PENDLETON — The Central Linn girls gave No. 1 seed Kennedy all it could handle but fell 39-31 in the quarterfinals of the 2A tournament at the Pendleton Convention Center.
The Cobras (21-5) trailed 23-20 going into the fourth quarter and 33-31 with 29 seconds to go.
"We turned it over on an out of bounds play," Central Linn coach Marcus Campbell said.
Kennedy hit two free throws, then added four more after two missed 3s by the Cobras.
"They iced us at the free-throw line late," Campbell said. "It was a good game. It was intense, it went back-and-forth."
Sarah Conner led Central Linn with 16 points and Colleen McLaughlin added 10. Jessica Neal grabbed eight rebounds.
Kennedy hit 20 of 33 free throws while Central Linn was 9 for 12.
Sophia Carley had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Kennedy.
Central Linn takes on Grant Union in the consolation bracket at 9 a.m. Friday.
"They like to run the court and shoot a lot of 3s," Campbell said of Grant Union. "Hopefully we can bring it like we did today and give ourselves a chance."
