The South Albany girls basketball team dominated North Salem at home Wednesday night in the first game of the season for both teams.
The Rebels came out fast, taking a 24-8 lead after one quarter.
Paige Diller led all scorers with 21 points.
Journee Schlabach had 15 points for the Rebels (1-0), who play at Sprague on Friday.
Central Linn 60, Toledo 25
The Cobras used a big second half to start the season off with a win at Toledo.
Kristina Kaczmarek had a game-high 20 points and Amanda Wright added 12 more.
Central Linn (1-0) hosts Oakridge on Friday.
Monroe 59, Harrisburg 28
Harrisburg dropped a rough game on the road at Monroe.
Stephanie Pelky had 11 points for the Eagles (0-1), who play at Junction City next Tuesday.
Sweet Home 25, Jefferson 21
Jefferson got off to a slow start, scoring only six points at the half against the Huskies.
“There were a lot of nerves out there,” said Jefferson coach Nick Plotts.
Jefferson also had a couple of players back who suffered season-ending injuries last season.
Jefferson plays Portland Christian in the first round of the Silver Cross Tournament on Friday. The tournament is at East Linn Christian.
St. Paul 47, Scio 38
Scio lost a close game at home against St. Paul.
The Loggers (0-1) will look to bounce back at Kennedy on Friday.
