West Albany High graduate Kelsey Broadus threw 5⅔ innings of scoreless relief Saturday for Boise State. 


Kelsey Broadus (West Albany) allowed just three hits in 5⅔ innings of scoreless relief with a strikeout and two walks Saturday in Boise State’s 5-1 loss to Long Beach State.

Friday, Broadus gave up one unearned run on no hits with three walks and two strikeouts in a 7-2 loss to Iowa State.

Both games were part of the Marucci Desert Classic in Las Vegas.


Julia Smith-Harrington (West Albany) went a combined 2 for 6 with a run scored Saturday as Towson swept a doubleheader at the Pirate Clash in Greenville, North Carolina. She picked up the win in Game 1, allowing two runs on six hits with four walks and no strikeouts in five innings.

Friday, Smith-Harrington was 1 for 3 at the plate and gave up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks in six innings in a 4-2 victory over UMBC.


Cheyanne Rimer (Scio) went a combined 3 for 11 with a home run and two RBIs last weekend as Western Oregon went 1-4 at the Tucson Invitational in Arizona.


Kaylee Buhrkuhl (Santiam Christian) went a combined 1 for 3 with a walk Monday as Corban dropped both legs of a doubleheader with Embry-Riddle in Phoenix.

Saturday, Buhrkuhl went 1 for 3 with a two-run home run in a 13-3 win over Ottawa in Surprise, Arizona.


Hannah Yelas (Santiam Christian) went the distance and allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits with two walks and no strikeouts Sunday in Northwest’s 4-3 loss at Pacific in Forest Grove.


Emily Marchbanks (Sweet Home) allowed just one hit in 4⅓ scoreless innings with two walks and two strikeouts Sunday in Newberry’s 2-1 victory over Pembroke in Newberry, South Carolina.

Saturday, Marchbanks went the distance and gave up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk in a 3-2, eight-inning home victory over Erskine.

Last Thursday, Marchbanks went 6⅓ innings and surrendered one run on four hits with four strikeouts in a 3-1 win at USC Aiken in Aiken, South Carolina.


Nicole Whitney (Santiam Christian) went a combined 0 for 5 with an RBI last Thursday as San Diego Christian split a doubleheader with Marymount California in Santee, California.


Logan Nousen (Harrisburg) allowed three runs on four hits with a strikeout in 2⅓ innings of relief Sunday in Oregon Tech’s 14-10 loss to Holy Names in Alameda, California.


Darren Crosby (Santiam Christian) struck out one and walked one in one inning of relief to get the save Friday in Whitworth’s 2-1 victory over Texas-Tyler in Tyler, Texas.


Josh Gerig (East Linn Christian) was a combined 3 for 6 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored last Thursday as Howard Payne swept a doubleheader with Dallas in Brownwood, Texas.


Alex Pynes (West Albany) went 0 for 2 with a walk Saturday in Shasta’s 5-4 loss at Canada in Redwood City, California.

Friday, Pynes went 1 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored in a 13-5 victory at Canada.

Last Thursday, Pynes went 0 for 1 in a 6-1 loss at Canada.

Last Tuesday, he went 1 for 2 in a 9-4 loss at Yuba in Marysville, California.

Men’s basketball

Nate Sherwood (West Albany) had eight points, including the game-winning tip-in, Saturday in Idaho’s 79-77 overtime victory over visiting Montana. He also had seven rebounds, a block and a steal while teammate Chad Sherwood (West Albany) added eight assists, a block and a rebound.

Last Thursday, Nate Sherwood had five points, seven points, two steals and a block and Chad Sherwood six points, five rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in an 88-78 home win over Montana State.


Cooper Getsfrid (West Albany) had 10 points, nine rebounds and an assist Saturday in Linn-Benton’s 87-85 road win at Chemeketa in Salem.

Last Wednesday, Getsfrid had 16 points, three rebounds, three blocks, an assist and a steal in a 79-71 home victory over Clackamas.

Women’s basketball

Corey James (West Albany) had three points and two rebounds Saturday in Portland State’s 72-64 loss at Idaho State.

Last Thursday, James had three rebounds and two assists in a 62-60 victory at Weber State.


Paige Graham (Scio) had five points, nine rebounds and two steals Saturday in Linfield’s 82-71 loss at Whitman in Walla Walla, Washington.

Friday, Graham had two points and five rebounds in a 77-57 loss at Whitworth in Spokane, Washington.


Maci Bozett (Lebanon) had six points, a rebound, an assist and a steal Tuesday in Corban’s 63-59 overtime loss to Northwest Christian in the quarterfinals of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament in Eugene. 

Last Wednesday, Bozett had 32 points, two rebounds and two assists in an 84-71 victory at Northwest Christian.

Women’s swimming

Boise State’s Lucie Davis (Sweet Home) placed sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16 minutes, 36.57 seconds) and sixth in the 500 freestyle (4:48.15) last weekend at the Mountain West Championships in San Antonio, Texas.


Providence’s Adrian Lyons-Lopez (South Albany) placed third in the 174-pound bracket at Saturday’s Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament in Ashland.

Competing for Southern Oregon, Scottie Stockman (Sweet Home) dropped a pair of matches at 149.

Men’s indoor track and field

Air Force’s Jake LaCoste (West Albany) finished second in the high jump (6 feet, 7¾ inches) and long jump (22-3¾) at Friday’s Air Force Collegiate Open in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
