The Linn-Benton Community College men's basketball team defeated Tacoma Community College 95-92 on Friday night in the Roadrunners' first game of the season.

Coach Everett Hartman said his team was down by 11 at halftime, 49-38, and fell behind by as much as 17 in the second half before rallying for the victory.

Hartman said his players pushed the ball and hit their shots in the second half, collecting eight steals in the process.

The Roadrunners will host the Multnomah University junior varsity on Tuesday.

Women's basketball

The LBCC women's basketball team lost to Wenatchee Valley 72-51 in the Titan Classic at Lane Community College in Eugene on Friday.

Madison Oakden led the Roadrunners with 15 points and four rebounds. Courteney Landis added 10 points, four assists and four rebounds, while Kelsey Wells chipped in 11 rebounds and eight points.

Ashlynn Burgess paced the Knights with 16 points and nine rebounds.

The Roadrunners will face the Pacific University junior varsity at 2 p.m. Saturday as the Titan Classic continues.
