OSU's Braun cited for party

  • 0

CORVALLIS - Oregon State football player John Braun, 20, was cited for hosting a party for minors earlier this month, according to the Corvallis Police Department.

Officers responded to a complaint about a loud party at the defensive end's home at 11:16 p.m. last Saturday night. They discovered both his roommates, 19, were drinking and were not cited.

One roommate, offensive lineman Tyler Thomas, was later cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol after he used a fake ID to get into the Harrison Street Bar and Grill at 1:16 a.m.

Both Braun and Thomas are redshirt freshmen, and have yet to play a down. Braun is a West Albany High alum. Thomas is from Kalispell, Mont.

"We are dealing with that internally," coach Mike Riley said. "I've spoken with them. I don't know yet about any team ramifications. They have been disciplined at this point, but no suspension has been issued at this point."

LOS ANGELES — When UCLA welcomed back fans amid the waning pandemic, it also hailed an accompanying benefit. Revenue. Lots of it. What a refreshing respite this day has been; a much-needed reprieve from covering the new Name, Image and Likeness world of Power 5 football, where we have been trained to believe that the value of a college scholarship means virtually nothing. Don’t you dare spew this nonsense to the recipients of the scholarships awarded by Folds of Honor; educational grants that go to the children and ...

DALLAS — After weeks — and more weeks — of waiting, the Big 12 finally has released its 2023 football schedule. That in itself represented news Tuesday, beyond the analysis of who plays who and who got an unfriendly schedule. The schedule was supposed to be out weeks ago. At the College Football Playoff championship game, new Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said it wasn’t about Texas and ...
