Want wine storage that’s effective and doubles as a cool sculptural piece? Begin the hunt for a riddling rack. It doesn’t need to cost a bundle: You might get lucky and find one at a flea market or antiques shop if you keep your eyes peeled. Once you find it, you can prop it up, hang it on the wall or do with it whatever you choose. As long as the wine is securely stored, of course.

A great headboard can make or break the bed, but unfortunately it often costs a pretty penny. If your budget doesn’t allow for such a big purchase, there is a solution: an inventive headboard created from an everyday item. Remember that old door you removed and stashed in the garage? It can be repurposed. Or that beautiful folding screen you spotted at the flea market? Yes, you do have a use for it. Read on to see five everyday items that can be transformed into unique headboards without leaving an empty space in your pocket.

You don’t have to use a folding screen just as a room divider. Flatten one against the wall for a dramatic headboard that will ground the bed and create a statement. If you’re perusing flea markets or antiques shops for one on a dime, look for a screen that features interesting detailing or carvings that catch the eye. Don’t worry if it’s not in the best of shape. After refinishing or a fresh coat of paint, it will look as good as new.

Accentuate it with artwork. Don’t let the space above your mantel remain bare. Instead, fill it with a bold piece of artwork. You don't have to break the bank to accomplish this task. Browse local flea markets or antiques stores, and you may find the perfect piece for next to nothing.
