For the fourth time in as many weeks this newspaper has deemed it necessary to print in its entirety that racist, criminal phrase used by Oswalt (Democrat-Herald/Gazette-Times, Feb. 27).

OK, it left off two letters from a word that any street-smart fourth grader could finish let alone any adult. By distributing that phrase to thousands of households in Linn and Benton counties it has spread it far more than Oswalt and his partner ever could. So is there a crime now?

If that “phrase/word” was so racist and liable for prosecution then why does this paper have to print it each time? Why even print a single letter of it being that it is so offensive? Let those who “need” to know sit through court hearings to learn of the phrase. With this paper repeating it so often I feel it’s a moot question now as to any prosecution.

The district attorney just seems to be grasping at additional charges for layering just to have something to go to court with. So what possible criminal part does this paper have in spreading this racist phrase?
