I always read Mr. England's letters. He is one of the few who is "tethered to truth" in this land where "tethered to belief" seems to be the rule.
However, I have one little quibble with his last letter, "Voters Unlikely to Repeat Mistake," of Jan. 29.
It seems to me that voters are quite willing to double down on the most egregious mistakes. Ronald Reagan, who put this country on a path to back-breaking debt with his "voodoo economics," was re-elected.
Dubya!! Is there anything this guy hasn't failed at — in his entire life? It was his brains, Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, that got him re-elected — but the voters did re-elect him — which shocked the daylights outta the whole country.
I would argue that it's very dangerous to get complacent or make assumptions about voter behavior in this country.
Never forget: No one was more surprised than Trump himself upon waking up on Wednesday morning after the second Tuesday in November 2016 and discovering he was the president-elect!
