Mid-Valley Media Group proudly presented its “2018 Year in Review” section published this past Sunday, with higher production values, printed on better-than-usual quality paper. Sadly, the “In Memoriam” page two was marred by a slapdash error. There, the life of Linn County Clerk Del Riley was chronicled. Unfortunately, “Del Riley’s” was the name in the bold headline.
The Albany Democrat-Herald has long been in need of a competent proofreader, and this blunder is just another in a long history of same. I suspect that many D-H subscribers have noticed this steady decline in the size and quality of the newspaper, and apparent indifference by management. It would probably help things if the organization actually cared about the future of print newspaper, but it is evident that it is planning instead for its demise.
