Recognize that North Korea is a nuclear power and treat them as we do other members of the nuclear club. That should be the USA's policy.
Let’s face it, we are painting ourselves and the Koreas into a corner, except the paint is an awful war or a nuclear disaster. The recent episode with Hawaii’s alert system was a rude awakening. Who knows how many of these mishaps have occurred in any of the nuclear club nations and been hushed up? It’s as if we humans are playing with matches in a room of spilled gasoline.
We accept and live with the existence of several other nations with nuclear weapons, why not North Korea? They may be difficult to live with, but not impossible. Remember China and Russia a few years back?
A military strike is not an option. Creating a humanitarian disaster, or threatening one, is no way to solve international issues. The joint Olympic team agreement by the two Koreas should be a signal to the world that if the athletes can come together why can’t we?
Humanity is crying for peace. Let’s give peace a chance!
