This past weekend a relay race took place on the country roads of Linn County. Unfortunately, there was an incident: A young man with little thought to possible outcome threw an object at one of the racers. What she thought was a wave turned into a bad injury near her eye. Thoughtless action could have resulted in a person losing their eye.
I'm pretty sure that no one involved will step forward because it's not cool to squeal on one's friends. It would show some semblance of character for that young man to admit to his poor decision and offer an apology. No one's holding their breath on that one; very few in today's society feel a responsibility for taking responsibility for their actions that negatively impact others.
This was hardly a note in the police report; just felt the need to bring it to attention to a wider audience. Maybe someone out there has possible knowledge of those involved and will impress on them the results of their thoughtless action.
