With the news of that CARA is in negotiations to purchase the vacant Wells Fargo Building, I hope a single or multilevel parking area would be considered. From what I understand CARA is to help encourage visitors and shoppers to the core area. I don't think I am alone in finding it difficult to park as a visitor or customer in the downtown area.
My daughter with her baby and toddler had difficulty finding parking to visit the carousel. I take a friend once a month to an appointment on First Street. She has a special van with a ramp that is required for her motorized wheelchair. Luckily now with Wells Fargo vacant, sometimes we can find its ramp parking spot available. It is difficult to use any spots that may be available on First Street as these are not easy to use with a ramp extended with the slope of road. My mom, in her 90s, still drives and also has a handicapped pass. Mom has trouble finding parking as there are few parking spots, especially handicapped. Are we the only ones who find it difficult to find parking?
Remember the phrase "Build it and they will come." Just remember to add, "if there is parking."
