Karen Burrell of Albany, a volunteer with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, has been named as a recipient of one of the 2012 Oregon Governor’s Volunteer Awards.

Burrell, who works with the Senior Health Insurance Benefits Association  through RSVP, is one of 18 regional award winners that include individuals and organizations. She will be honored at an awards ceremony Nov. 9 at the Salem Conference Center. Eight statewide winners will also receive awards.

The Oregon Volunteers Commission for Voluntary Action and Service organizes the awards program, which is sponsored by Wells Fargo. At the awards luncheon, the winners will receive cash grants from Wells Fargo to give to their favorite nonprofit group.

Burrell is one of five individuals receiving recognition in the Outstanding Senior Volunteer category recognizing volunteers age 55 and older.
