Members of the Linn County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team helped an injured climber on Mt. Washington shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, according to Undersheriff Jim Yon.

According to Yon, Michael Parrish, 24, of Bend, was at about 7,200 feet.

He and a friend were hiking toward the summit when a large rock gave way and landed on his foot.

Yon said Parrish was able to slowly walked down the trail on the heal of his broken foot.

Two Search and Rescue Team advisers and three team members reached Parrish about 8:40 p.m. and provided basic first aid.

They also brought him some crutches and helped him walk out on the trail.

Parrish went to St. Charles Hospital in Bend for medical evaluation.
