Child porn trial — From Tuesday morning. Michael William Irizarry of Oregon City was scheduled for a three day jury trial starting on Oct. 30. Irizarry is charged with 10 counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse.
DUII crash, assault — From Tuesday afternoon. Matthew Scott McGinnis, 27, of Lebanon, was charged with second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. McGinnis was arrested by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office at about 7:41 p.m. on Monday after he crashed a vehicle in the 39900 block of Stayton Scio Road, injuring a female passenger. Judge Carol Bispham set McGinnis’ bail at $50,000, the minimum required for a Measure 11 offense. Second-degree assault carries a mandatory minimum sentence of nearly six years in prison. The next hearing in the case was scheduled for June 25.
Theft — From Tuesday afternoon. Charles Martin Egner, 44, of Lebanon, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and two counts of first-degree theft. The crimes allegedly occurred between Jan. 23 and Jan. 25. A cargo trailer, a gas grill and/or propane tanks were stolen from the Hub City Church in Albany, according to court documents. The prosecution has filed a notice of intent to seek an enhanced sentence in the case.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Took his gun — 11:25 a.m. Monday, 2700 block of Long Street. A caller reported that her son’s landlord gave away a gun belonging to her son. The responding officer counseled both parties, and the gun was retrieved from a Lebanon-area resident.
Stolen plywood — 2:29 p.m. Monday, 1800 block of Tamarack Street. A caller reported the theft of plywood. Extra patrols were put into place.

Errant swine — 9:19 a.m. Monday, 3200 block of Denny School Road, near Lebanon. A caller reported a wandering pig, which was then returned to its owner’s property.
