Sweet Home police have released the name of a man killed in a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Mountain View Road and Ames Creek Road in Sweet Home.

Clarence Haws, 35, of Tangent died when his Suzuki motorcycle went off Mountain View and crashed into a hillside north of Ames Creek.

He had been traveling north on Mountain View and appears to have lost control as he entered the intersection. Speed is believed to have been a factor.

Police think the crash happened shortly before 6:20 a.m. A caller who had not witnessed the wreck notified them at that time.

Officers with the Sweet Home Police Department and medics with the Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District responded and found Haws approximately 15 feet north of the intersection in the east side ditch. He was deceased on arrival.

The Multi Agency Investigative Team, which consists of members of the Albany Police Department, the Lebanon Police Department, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police, assisted in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Sweet Home Police Officer Keenan Martin at 541-367-5181.
