Oct. 19, 1950 - Jan. 7, 2010
Patricia M. McKay, 61, of Albany died Saturday after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Lewiston, Maine, to Aurore and Edward Luthman, who preceded her in death. Pat grew up in Van Nuys, Calif., and graduated with honors from Van Nuys High. In 1968, she married Kenneth Kalinowski and moved to Oregon.
After her divorce in 1979, Pat began working at Good Samaritan Hospital. She continued her employment with them until 2010, when she was forced to retire because of her illness. She was a strong, independent woman. She never let a Christmas pass without climbing onto her roof to put up the lights and always made sure her half acre yard was mowed and raked, no matter the challenge.
Pat enjoyed golfing, walking on the beach and the beauty of historical homes. She especially loved any outdoor activity that included her three grandsons, Matthew Roeser, Braxton Reece and Carter Roeser. It wouldn't be uncommon to find her climbing a tree, splashing in the pool, building a sand castle or playing in the leaves with the kids.
Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Luthman.
She is survived by her sister, Connie Barnes of Albany; brother Jim Luthman of California; and two daughters, Shelley Reece and Kristie Roeser, both of Albany.
