July 7, 1932 — Oct. 5, 2011
Hazel “Mickey” Maxine Tidwell, 79, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
She was the daughter of Louis and Dessie Tidwell, and grew up with her brothers in Pomeroy, Wash.
After high school she joined the U.S. Air force, where she served for three years. She used her GI bill to put herself through the Beautician School of Cosmetology and worked cutting hair until she began working for Hewlett-Packard, which involved supervision of special needs employees. Living in Albany, she retired after 25 yrs at HP. She spent many happy years with her many friends and three dogs, Sadie, Katie and little Tiger.
Mickey enjoyed road trips and shopping at special flea markets for antiques and treasures. She always looked forward to trips to the coast to visit the sites and be with her friends. A weekend never went by without watching one of her favorite sporting events on TV; if not football, it was tennis or golf. Her small yard reflected her love for flowering plants and feeding all the birds in the neighborhood.
She was a very kind, gentle and caring person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her especially her extended family, Jan Rafferty, Sam Sollers, Michele and George LaBarge, and Patti Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and life partner Gloria Michele.
There will be no services at her request, but a quiet celebration of life with special friends.
Donations can be made to SafeHaven Humane Society in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. S.W., Albany, OR 97321.
