Douglas Jay Knudtson, 58, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018.
He was born in Jamestown, North Dakota to Fred and LaVonne Knudtson.
In 1967, the family moved to Pomeroy, Washington and settled in Albany, Oregon December 18, 1969. Doug graduated from South Albany High School in 1977.
Doug had a strong work ethic that was instilled as a young man delivering the newspaper, working on a farm and building furniture. He started working at Oremet, which is now ATI Albany Operations, in June 1979. He had several positions over his 38 years of service, and was manager of the raw materials department. He was a hardworking employee no matter where he worked.
Doug married the love of his life, Janice Moore on September 26, 1981. They raised two wonderful children, Kyle and Brooke. He was a dedicated father who could be found at both kids’ sporting events whether it was football, basketball, baseball or a cheerleading competition.
He shared a love of NASCAR, racing dragsters and being part of a pit crew for his good friend Charlie James.
Doug and his son enjoyed rebuilding classic cars. He was also known for his love of family and cooking for large gatherings of family and friends.
He was an avid outdoorsman, spending most seasons hunting or fishing with his son, brothers-in-law, nephews and friends.
Doug shared his love of camping with his children and grandchildren.
His greatest joy was becoming a Grandpa to Hollyn, Cole, Myla and Davis, with two more granddaughters on the way.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Jan; son Kyle (Ashley); daughter Brooke (Rosco) Huebner; and grandchildren Cole and Davis Knudtson, and Hollyn and Myla Huebner. He is also survived by his mother, LaVonne (Clayton) Wood; sisters Brenda Mainord, Janelle (Jack) Nichols, Karla (Corey) Tackitt, Kathy Middelstadt; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Knudtson.

A service with be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Albany’s St. Mary's Catholic Church.
