The Albany Public Library, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs, will host a screening of the documentary film “Breaking the Silence: An Oral History of LGBTQ Veterans and Service Members,” at the Main Library, 2450 14th Ave. SE, Tuesday, Feb. 12., at 7 p.m.
The documentary gives the accounts of five LGBTQ Oregonians who served their country during a time when their sexual orientation and gender identity put them at risk of prosecution. Nathanial Bohme, LGBTQ veterans coordinator for the Department of Veterans Affairs, will lead a panel discussion after the screening. Light refreshments will be provided.
