LEBANON — The Lebanon Safeway store has presented Linn Benton Food Share with a check for $1,500 as part of the "Let's Bag Hunger" campaign.
During select times of the year, Safeway customers across Oregon are encouraged to donate pre-filled bags to local food banks.
Individual stores are awarded bonus dollar donations for finishing with the most donated bags. This year, the Lebanon Safeway store achieved the honor of being recognized as a top performer among the 1,600 Safeway stores.
The Lebanon community purchased 1,430 bags of food — worth nearly $15,000 — in support of this campaign.
To further their hunger relief efforts store manager Kody Boggs chose to present the $1,500 Safeway bonus check to Linn Benton Food Share.

"This cash donation comes at a crucial time of year," said Food Share director, Mike Gibson. "Emergency food supplies are at their lowest during the summer months due to fewer donations. We thank Lebanon Safeway and their customers for such generous support."
