The Halsey-Shedd Rural Fire Protection District will hold its annual Achievement Day Breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Halsey Fire Station, 740 W Second St.

The breakfast, which includes pancakes, eggs, ham and a variety of drinks, costs $5 per person, or $20 for a family of five. Donations also are accepted.

Achievement Day started in Halsey in the 1920s as a day for local schoolchildren to celebrate their accomplishments. The tradition continued until the school district consolidated with neighboring cities in the mid- to late-1950s.

Halsey-Shedd Rural Fire Protection District volunteers revived the Achievement Day Breakfast in 1994.
