Assault charges  3 p.m. Tuesday, Linn County Circuit Court. Shanelle Marie Ellis, 34, was arraigned for assaulting a public safety officer after fighting with an Albany Police officer Monday in the 1700 block of Salem Ave. SE. Ellis is alleged to have clawed the officer's ear with her nails, requiring him to get stitches. Ellis was also charged with criminal trespass after she was found on the railroad tracks, for resisting arrest, and for possession of methamphetamine.


This warrants a phone call  1 p.m. Monday, 38100 block of Highway 228. A man pulled over for a moving violation was found to have multiple warrants for his arrest. He called his girlfriend, likely to retrieve the car, and she was found to have a warrant as well. She was cited and released, while the man was arrested and booked into the Linn County Jail.

Drifting gone wrong — 3:25 p.m. Friday, Mill City. A young driver attempting some drift car-racing skills in a 1994 four-door sedan crashed his car, but nobody was injured.

Boat thief sighted, cited — 4:22 p.m. Friday, 1400 block of 60th Avenue, Sweet Home. A Linn County Parks official contacted a deputy about a stolen boat. The deputy could see the suspect rowing it across Foster Lake and deployed a patrol boat to intercept him. The man admitted to taking the boat and was cited for unlawful entry to a motor vehicle. The boat was returned to the dock.
