An Albany man was sentenced in Linn County Circuit Court on Wednesday to more than six years in prison for sexually abusing a girl under the age of 12.
Danny Ray Presson, 29, had pleaded no contest to a charge of first-degree sex abuse on Feb. 22.
Another charge of first-degree sex abuse and a charge of first-degree sodomy were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
The abuse happened between 2013 and 2014, according to prosecutor George Eder. The victim was known to Presson.
The Albany Police Department began investigating the case in 2016, but the child victim wasn’t forthcoming. That changed in 2017, however, when the victim spoke out to a family friend, Eder said.
Presson will receive credit for time served, but will not be eligible for a sentence reduction based on good behavior in prison, nor will he be eligible for alternative prison programs.
