Southern Oregon man involved again in a neighbor killing

  • 0

KERBY(AP) — A Southern Oregon man involved in a dispute that led to a fatal shooting over the weekend was cleared four years ago in the shooting of a neighbor.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that 64-year-old Donald Easley shot and killed a neighbor in November 2009 at about the same location as a shooting reported Saturday afternoon near Kerby in Josephine County.

In 2010, the grand jury declined to bring charges, saying that Easley had acted in self-defense when he shot 60-year-old Kenneth L. Vaughn.

As of Monday, the paper reported no arrests had been made in the shooting Saturday of 59-year-old Leron J. Estes. State police said Easley fired a handgun at his neighbor.

On Aug. 30, Easley had gotten a restraining order against Estes.
