Regional School of Ballet welcomes guest artist Scott Martin to teach two master classes June 25 and 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 120 SW Third St., Corvallis. Classes are open to area dancers ages 12 and up that are dancing at an advance or intermediate level.
Martin began his dance training at Indiana University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ballet and Pedagogy. His first real contract was with the Niavaran Ballet Company, which was created to perform for the Shah of Iran in 1978. His other performing contracts were with the San Antonio Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, El Paso Ballet, Capital City Ballet (Sacramento) and Ballet Arizona.
After seventeen years of performing with ballet companies, Martin transitioned into teaching ballet and other studies, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Somatic Psychology and Education from Antioch University and certification in Rolfing (Structural Integration). He has practiced structural integration for over twenty eight years (azrolfing.com).
