Author Joshua Safran will discuss his memoir "Free Spirit: Growing Up On the Road and Off the Grid," and the documentary "Crime After Crime" 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the main meeting room of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave.

The memoir tells Safran's childhood story of chasing the perfect life off the grid, and how he and his mother survived the imperfect one they found instead. His  journey to free an incarcerated survivor of domestic violence from prison was featured in the award-winning documentary "Crime After Crime," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The event is free. For information, contact the library at 541-766-6793.
