ADAIR VILLAGE — No. 2 seed Santiam Christian held off Salem Academy for a 65-55 win in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
The Eagles (23-3) advance to the 3A tournament at North Bend High in Coos Bay. They will play Amity, a 67-50 winner against Horizon Christian.
The Eagles controlled the action throughout the first half, leading 19-7 at the end of the first quarter and 33-19 at the half.
SC coach Dennis McLain said the Eagles were able to cut to the basket effectively, got good looks and finished their shots.
“We played with a lot of energy and we had a really great crowd and the boys fed off that,” McLain said.
Salem Academy put together a push in the third but SC was able to turn it away.
Ben Galceran finished with 15 points, Koby Williamson added 13, Josh Baugher had 12 points and 10 assists and Zeke Gilbert grabbed nine rebounds for SC.
South Albany 79, Corvallis 70
Jadon Lopez scored 19 points and Sam Myers added 17 as the RedHawks closed out the season with the Mid-Willamette Conference win.
South finishes 17-7 overall and 9-7 in the MWC but misses out on a playoff berth due to a tiebreaker.
Corvallis (12-10, 11-5) ends in second place in the MWC and will advance to the 5A playoffs.
Silverton 75, Crescent Valley 39
The Raiders dropped the MWC home game but did advance to the 5A playoffs.
North Salem 62, Lebanon 59 (OT)
The Warriors fell short in the MWC home game to finish the season.
Philomath 59, La Grande 44
PHILOMATH — Michael Lundy had 17 points and Marshall Brattain 16 as the Warriors advanced to the 4A playoffs with the play-in win at home.
Newport 58, Sweet Home 49
NEWPORT — The Huskies saw their season come to an end in the 4A play-in loss.
Toledo 81, Central Linn 72
TOLEDO — The Cobras fell in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.
W. Christian 83, Jefferson 40
SALEM — The Lions ended the season with the first-round 2A playoff loss.
LOST RIVER — A big fourth quarter propelled Central Linn past Lost River 50-41 in the first round of the 2A playoffs.
The Cobras (21-5) trailed Lost River 35-31 going into the fourth and outscored the Pirates 19-6 for the win.
Central Linn advances to the 2A tournament in Pendleton and will play the winner of Saturday’s first-round game between Kennedy and Lakeview.
Central Linn coach Marcus Campbell said the Cobras struggled a bit shooting the ball until the fourth. They had a few different players hit big shots and then made free throws down the stretch.
Colleen McLaughlin had 20 points and hit six 3-pointers and Sarah Conner had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Gracie Robb added eight points and five rebounds.
Lebanon 61, North Salem 48
SALEM — The Warriors closed out the regular season with the MWC win and will next take part in the 5A playoffs.
Corvallis 52, South Albany 19
The Spartans rolled to the Mid-Willamette Conference win at home.
Corvallis (13-11, 10-6) moves into a tie for third in the MWC standings with Crescent Valley.
South Albany falls to 6-19, 1-15.
Silverton 55, Crescent Valley 45
SILVERTON — The Raiders fell short against the Foxes on the road.
Crescent Valley is 10-6 in the MWC and has clinched a state playoff spot.
