CHICAGO — Oregon State midfielder Hassani Dotson and forward Don Tchilao were both selected in the second round of Friday’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

Dotson was taken by Minnesota United FC with the 31st overall pick (seventh pick of the second round). He was followed five picks later by Tchilao, who went 36th overall (12th pick of the second round) to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Dotson, who hails from Federal Way, Wash., played every minute for the Beavers this season, serving as a steadying force in the OSU midfield. The senior was a Pac-12 second team pick, and earned conference player of the week recognition once this season. Dotson also found the net against UCLA, scoring the third goal in OSU’s 4-3 win.

Tchilao, from Chandler, Ariz., was a Pac-12 first team selection after leading the team with nine assists on the year. The senior also scored seven goals to finish his senior season tied for second in the conference with 23 points. A two-time Pac-12 player of the week and one-time College Soccer News national player of the week selection this season, Tchilao’s year was highlighted by a game-winning overtime goal vs. UCLA.

Dotson and Tchilao both spent the week leading up to the draft at the MLS Combine. Tchilao finished in the top-10 among participants in both the 30-meter dash and the vertical jump, while Dotson was top-10 in the 5-10-5 shuttle.

As a team, Oregon State finished 2018 with a record of 11-6-3, and made the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. The Beavers ended the Pac-12 season second in the conference with a mark of 6-3-1, and head coach Terry Boss was named Pac-12 coach of the year in his first season with the program.
