THE CITY OF CORVALLIS INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR A PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY (1 opening for term running November 4, 2019 through June 30, 2021) The Corvallis City Council invites interested persons to apply for a position on the Corvallis Planning Commission. The City Council will interview applicants and make a selection at a time and place to be announced. • The Planning Commission advises the City Council on land use planning policy and reviews various development proposals for compliance with the Comprehensive Plan and applicable land use regulations. Applicants are encouraged to become familiar with the land use documents located at this address: www.corvallisoregon.gov/cd-publications • The Commission consists of nine members appointed by the City Council. The term for one open position begins on November 4, 2019 and ends on June 30, 2021. Members of the Planning Commission receive no compensation and attend an average of two regular Planning Commission evening meetings each month and an average of an additional special meeting or two (liaison to other commissions, task forces for long range planning projects, etc.) each month, as needed. The majority of the additional special meetings are during the evening, but some are during the day. Review of materials for meetings averages 1-2 hours per meeting, although in some complex cases can be up to 3 hours. • No more than two voting members of the Commission may be engaged principally in the buying, selling, or developing of real estate for profit as individuals or be members of any partnership or officers or employees of any corporation that engages principally in the buying, selling, or developing of real estate for profit. In the interest of ensuring a balanced, community-wide perspective on the Planning Commission, no more than two members shall be engaged in the same kind of occupation, business, trade, or profession. The current membership of the Planning Commission includes a Paralegal, Electrical Engineer, Computer Programmer, Land Developer, Substitute Teacher, College Instructor, Policy Analyst / Student and Chemical Engineer.
