World War II veteran and former Linn County clerk Del Riley will be a featured guest speaker this month at Linn-Benton Community College.
Riley, of Albany, will speak about his life before, during, and after World War II. He served in the 10th Mountain Division in Italy, during which he was wounded and for which he received a Purple Heart.
Riley's presentation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Fireside Room, Calapooia Center building, 6500 Pacific Blvd., Albany. This event is free and open to the public.
As Linn County clerk, Riley was instrumental in creating the nation's first county-wide elections by mail in 1981. He is a member of Gideon’s International and has spent much time offering free Bibles and discussions at LBCC.
