Fresh off its Greater Valley Conference district title, the West Albany High girls 200-yard medley relay team is seeded sixth at this weekend’s 6A state swimming championships.

Bailey Dickerson, Zane Van Horsen, Eve Vetter and Emily Harding set a new district meet record with a time of 1 minute, 52.64 seconds at the GVC championships. The foursome also earned an at-large state berth and No. 8 seed in the 200 freestyle relay by finishing in 1:43.28.

The top six finishers in each of Friday’s preliminaries at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham advance to Saturday’s finals.

Dickerson, a sophomore, is seeded eighth in the 100 backstroke (58.0, district record) and 50 free (25.02, school record).

Vetter is seeded 14th in the 100 butterfly (1:00.39) and 17th in the 200 IM (2:16.98) while Van Horsen is 15th in the 500 free (5:24.78).

On the boys side, West’s 200 free relay team of Eric Formiller, Braxton Reece, Zack Romancier, Kieran Van Horsen is seeded 15th at 1:33.62.

5A

South Albany senior Zack Gardner is the No. 1 overall seed in the 100 backstroke after winning the Mid-Willamette Conference championships in a district-record time 53.27.

Gardner also placed first in the 200 IM at 2:02.8 and is seeded third at state.

Lebanon junior Casey McEuen is the top seed in the 50 (20.97, district record) and 100 free (47.87). He is the defending state champion in the 100 free.

The Warriors are seeded second in the 200 (1:32.15) and 400 (3:23.9) free relays while the Rebels are ninth in the 400 free relay (1:37.44). In the 200 medley relay, South is seeded eighth (1:49.47) and Lebanon ninth (1:50.12).

Lebanon’s Jonathan Yordy is seeded seventh in the 200 IM (2:07.07) and teammate Drew Charley is 11th in the 100 fly (57.06). South freshman Nathaniel Young is ninth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.3.

In the girls meet, Rebels senior Jessica Robinson is seeded second in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.3. Lebanon senior Piper Engler is third at 1:01.16.

Engler is also seeded fifth in the 200 IM (2:17.19).

The Warriors are eighth in the 200 medley relay (2:01.59) and ninth in the 400 free relay (4:03.68). South checks in at ninth in the 200 free relay (1:50.6) and 10th in the 200 medley relay (2:02.72).

4A/3A/2A/1A

The Sweet Home girls, who are the defending 4A/3A/2A/1A state champions, have the top overall seed in six of 11 events.

Freshman Megan Hager is seeded first in the 50 free (24.78) and 100 free (53.83) while senior Lucie Davis (500 free, 5:11.52) and junior Lauren Yon (1:09.66) are also No. 1. Sweet home is the top seed in the 200 (1:43.11) and 400 (3:44.16) free relays. The Huskies check in at fourth in the 200 medley relay at 1:57.72.

Sweet Home has a pair of No. 2 seeds: Davis (200 free, 1:58.67) and Yon (200 IM, 2:14). Jessica Coats is seeded third in the 100 fly (1:01.12) and 100 back (1:02.41).

Sarah Hewitt is seeded fifth in the 500 free (5:34.96) and sixth in the 200 free (2:04.91); Elea Hewitt is seventh in the 200 IM (2:29.33) and 11th in the 100 breast (1:16.79); Mia Davis is ninth in the 100 fly (1:05.03) and 500 free (5:43.65).

On the boys side, Sweet Home is seeded first in the 200 (1:31.8) and 400 (3:26.48) free relays and third in the 200 medley relay (1:48.01).

Nathan Hager is first in the 100 free (48.94) and second in the 50 free (22.53).

Rawlins Lupoli is third in the 100 breast (1:03.21) and seventh in the 200 free (2:07.89); Rowland Lupoli is fourth in the 100 breast (1:03.25) and the 100 fly (56.27); Sean Wolthuis is eighth in the 200 free (1:54.11) and 100 free (52.2) while Brandon Vasfaret checks in at ninth in the 200 free at 2:08.55.
