CORVALLIS — West Albany High’s bid for a repeat 6A girls water polo title came to an end with an 8-6 loss to Lincoln in the semifinals late Friday night at Osborn Aquatic Center.

The second-seeded Bulldogs will take on Sam Barlow in the third-place game at 1:45 p.m.

Third-seeded Lincoln will face No. 1 seed Newberg in the finals at 7 p.m.

Bailey Dickerson led the Bulldogs with three goals while Kylee Crofcheck, Sabrina Grato and Olivia Friedel each scored. Erica Rietmann had three blocks.

While the loss is tough — West beat Lincoln in overtime earlier this year — playing for third is quite an accomplishment for a team that graduated eight seniors off last year’s squad.
