SILVERTON — Logan Whittaker won three events and Tyler Miller two to lead the South Albany High boys track and field team in a three-team Mid-Willamette Conference meet on Wednesday.

Whittaker won the 110 hurdles (17.56), the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and the triple jump (39-9½). Miller won the 1,500 (4:33.52) and the 3,000 (9:32.79).

Bradley Johnston won the 400 (54.15), Zach Little the long jump (17-5) and Nathaniel Young the pole vault (10-0).

On the girls side, Jasmine Alejandre won the 1,500 (5:40.37) and the 3,000 (12:18.19); Grace DeVyldere the 100 hurdles (18.61); Annie Taylor the 300 hurdles (56.17); Kaimana Caspino the shot put (31-7½); Keyanie Guyette and Emileigh Wuerst the pole vault (8-0); and Preston Jones the long jump (15-1).


HARRISBURG — Jimmy Holland had four RBIs, three hits and threw 2⅔ innings of relief to lead Harrisburg to a 16-6 win over Creswell in a Mountain Valley Conference game.

William Downs and Brennan Erickson had two hits each for Harrisburg (4-11, 1-2). Downs also struck out four in two innings and got the win. 

The Eagles resume league play at Glide on Friday.

Girls golf

SALEM — Anna Schweitzer shot a 93 on Wednesday to lead the West Albany girls golf team at a Greater Valley Conference tournament at the McNary Golf Course.

West shot 458 as a team; complete team scores were not available. Hannah McClure had a 96, Lexi Chido a 127 and Katie Rohrbough a 142 for the Bulldogs.

"The girls played really well," coach Matt Boase said. "I think they’re all very close to making a big leap in their scoring."

The Bulldogs will compete at the Mid-Valley Invitational on Friday.

Boys tennis

South Albany dropped just two sets in an 8-1 Mid-Willamette Conference boys tennis victory on Tuesday.

Winning singles matches for the Rebels were Joseph Santos (1), Marco Reyes (3) and Izak Benson (4).

The Rebels swept the doubles, giving up a total of four games. Austin Mendoza and Ozzy Ramirez won at No. 1 with Colby Romviel and Armando Arreola (2), Conner Harless and Zack Engel-Christensen (3), Nick Bohanan and Charlie Solomon (4) and Moises Gonzalez and Parker Romviel (5) also winning.
