East Linn Christian’s Jedaiah Wasson and Lebanon’s Hannah Mason finished first and third, respectively, Wednesday to lead their teams at the Silver Falls Oktoberfest Invitational cross-country meet at Silver Falls State Park.
Wasson won the boys race, covering the 5,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 57 seconds. East Linn didn’t field a complete team.
Mason’s third-place finish in 19:57 helped Lebanon to third in the team standings.
South Albany’s Tyler Miller was 12th in the boys race to lead the Rebels to second overall. Sweet Home’s Tanner Sayers was fourth and the Huskies 12th. Lebanon, led by Rian Howard’s 18th, was fourth as a team.
Central Linn’s Jessica Neal was 12th in the girls race. The Cobras were incomplete.
The meet included 24 complete boys teams and 17 complete girls teams.
EUGENE — West Albany High allowed its first goal of the season Wednesday and it was enough to send the Bulldogs to a 1-0 defeat at Willamette in a nonleague match.
Willamette scored in the 38th minute. Bulldogs coach Erik Ihde, whose team was missing five players due to injury, singled out the play of defender Bethanie Marteeny.
West (3-1-1) was playing for the second consecutive night after defeating visiting Lebanon 1-0 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs open Greater Conference play next Tuesday at home against McMinnville.
