Silverton High upended South Albany 3-0 on Tuesday in a Mid-Willamette Conference volleyball match at South. Set scores were 27-25, 25-9, 25-17.

The Rebels (2-4, 1-2) resume MWC action on Thursday with a 6 p.m. match at Corvallis.

Sprague 3, West Albany 2

SALEM — The Olympians won the final two sets to claim a tough 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 15-8 win over the Bulldogs in a Greater Valley Conference match.

Bailey Backer had 22 assists, Sydney Backer had 32 digs, Courtney Isom had 20 assists and three blocks and Jacquelyn Clark had 17 kills for the Bulldogs (5-4, 3-3), who play at McNary on Thursday.

Harrisburg 3, East Linn Christian 0

LEBANON — Harrisburg improved to 7-1 overall with a 3-0 win. Set scores were 25-4, 25-6, 25-11.

Harrisburg plays at the Vernonia Tournament on Saturday. ELC (0-6) resumes Tri-River Conference action at Kennedy on Thursday.

Scio 3, Jefferson 2

SCIO — Daija Smith had a huge match for the Loggers as they outlasted jefferson 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11 in the PacWest Conference match.

Smith had 39 kills, 21 digs and three aces for the Loggers (5-3, 2-1). Aspen Schudel added 27 digs and 13 kills, Makenna Cooper had 22 digs and McKenzie Reger had 18 digs. 

Sco resumes PWC play at Colton on Thursday; Jefferson (8-3 all, 1-2 PWC) hosts Chemawa. 

Boys soccer

LA PINE — Santiam Christian scored three times in the first half, added a fourth goal in the second half and eased past La Pine 4-1 for its first win of the fall in the 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 game.

SC (1-2-1, 1-0-1) resumes league play on Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. game at East Linn Christian.

Newport 10, Sweet Home 0

NEWPORT — The Huskies fell to 0-2-0 with the nonleague defeat. They open Sky-Em League action at Elmira on Thursday.

Girls soccer

LA PINE — McKenna David had a goal and two assists to lead Santiam Christian to a 5-0 win over La Pine in a 3A/2A/1A Special District 3 game.

Sailor Allman, Audrey Miller, Sophey Roberts and Trinity Beck added goals for the Eagles (2-1-0, 1-1-0. They host Westside Christian in a nonleague game at 4 p.m. Friday.

South Albany 3, North Salem 0

SALEM — The Rebels scored three first-half goals and held off the Vikings in the second half to post their first win of the season. South Albany (1-1-0) hosts Newport at 6 p.m. Friday in another nonleague game.

Creswell 3, Central Linn 0

CRESWELL — The host Bulldogs built an insurmountable 2-0 halftime lead and claimed the 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 matchup, handing the Cobras (1-1-0, 0-1-0) their first loss of the season.

Central Linn hosts Clatskanie at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in a nonleague game. 

Water polo

West Albany's boys and girls teams swept Willamette at the Albany Community Pool to remain undefeated after two matches. The boys prevailed 13-2, the girls 18-6.

Randall Miller and Jaden Humphreys had three goals each and Kieran van Horsen had five assists for the boys, who play at West Salem on Sept. 19 in their next game.

Kylee Crofcheck had eight goals and three steals, Bailey Dickerson had six goals and three steals and Anna Soot had three steals for the girls, who play at the Newberg Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
