West Albany High built a 15-6 first-quarter lead and was never in danger in a 62-55 boys basketball win over Forest Grove on Friday in a Greater Valley League game.
Oreon Countney had 14 points, Cassius McGinty 11 points and Chase LaPerle 10 points to lead a balanced attack. Eight of the 10 Bulldogs who played scored at least four points.
"We jumped on them early and maintained the lead the rest of the way," West coach Derek Duman said, noting that Forest Grove got within three points in the second half but could draw no closer.
The Bulldogs (7-4, 2-2) resume league play on Tuesday when they host McMinnville.
Santiam Christian 52, Willamina 47
ADAIR VILLAGE — Josh Baugher had 20 points and Zach Baugher added 13 as the Eagles rallied in the second half for the West Valley League home win.
SC trailed 22-20 at the half and struggled from long range. So the Eagles went inside for easier buckets and got to the free-throw line.
SC (10-2, 2-0) is at Taft on Monday.
W. Mennonite 88, E. Linn Christian 53
SALEM — Western Mennonite topped East Linn Christian in the Tri-River Conference game. ELC (5-9, 0-2) visits Central Linn on Tuesday in another league game.

MT. ANGEL — Kennedy claimed the Tri-River Conference win over the Cobras. Central Linn (1-10, 0-3) hosts East Linn Christian on Tuesday in another league game.
Salem Academy 66, Scio 20
SALEM — Host Salem Academy topped Scio in the PacWest Conference game, snapping Scio's two-game winning streak.
The Loggers (4-9, 1-1) resume PacWest action on Tuesday against Jefferson at SHS.
Crook County 58, Sweet Home 48
PRINEVILLE — Sweet Home concluded nonleague action with the loss to the Cowboys. The Huskies (5-8) open Sky-Em League action on Tuesday when they host Sutherlin.
