In a back-and-forth game that went four overtimes, Lebanon High dropped a 72-69 decision girls basketball decision at Milwaukie on Tuesday night.

The Warriors (6-3) open Mid-Willamette Conference play against Silverton on Thursday.

“It was a great high school basketball game,” said coach Mardy Benedict.

Five Warriors finished in double figures led by Bryn Gerson, who had 17 points.

“We had good balanced scoring,” Bendedict said.

Gerson (17 points, 11 rebounds) and Molly Aranda (15 points, 13 rebounds) both recorded double doubles.

Madi Cox added three assists.

“I’m very proud of the girls,” Benedict said.

Churchill 66, South Albany 41

South Albany struggled on offense in the middle two quarters and dropped a nonconference game at Churchill.

Hannah Kerlegan and Rachel DeVyldere each scored nine points for the Rebels.

South Albany led 13-9 after the first quarter but Churchill took control with a 36-16 edge in teh second and third quarters.

The Rebels (4-6) open Mid-Willamette Conference play at Central on Friday.

Santiam Christian 35, Willamina 17 

Santiam Christian opened West Valley League play with a home win over Willamina.

SC coach Wendi Miller said aggressive defense is what won the game for the Eagles.

“We have been challenging the girls to work harder on defense and tonight was a great team win,” Miller said.

Megan Fullbright had a game-high 11 points for SC (7-3, 1-0), which plays at Taft on Friday.

LaPine 42, Harrisburg 14

Harrisburg scored just two points in the first half and dropped the Mountain Valley Conference road game.

LaPine took control with a 12-0 advantage in the second quarter for an 18-2 lead at the half.

Harrisburg (3-9, 0-2) is at Pleasant Hill on Friday.

Western Mennonite 65, Central Linn 26

The Cobras dropped their first Tri-River Conference game of the season in a tough loss at home against Western Mennonite.

Central Linn (9-4, 0-1) will look to bounce back at Santiam on Friday.

Jefferson 39, Gervais 38

Jefferson slipped past Gervais in the PacWest Conference opener for both team.

“We shot the ball well,” said coach Nick Plotts.

The Lions (3-9, 1-0) play at Salem Academy on Friday.

Forest Grove 53, West Albany 49

The Bulldogs lost a close Greater Valley Conference game on the road at Forest Grove.

West (2-9, 0-3) play at North Salem on Friday.

Blanchet 60, Scio 37

The Loggers dropped their PacWest Conference opener on the road.

Scio (5-7, 0-1) hosts Gervais on Friday.

St. Paul 34, East Linn Christian 25

East Linn Christian lost at home in Tri-River Conference play.

The Eagles (5-5, 0-2) play at North Clackamas Christian on Friday.
