ADAIR VILLAGE — Junior Rebeka Preston scored just over half of Santiam Christian’s points to lead the Eagles to a 59-43 home win over Toledo on Wednesday.
Preston ended the night with 30 points, helping SC build a big lead early in the game. Coach Wendi Farris used the opportunity to get playing time for her freshman-heavy bench.
“Toledo was pressing almost the whole game,” Farris said. “Our freshman had to grow up fast tonight.”
The Eagles (1-0) will host Pleasant Hill on Friday.

PLEASANT HILL — The Jefferson High girls team was overwhelmed on the road to start out their season.
Captain Alyssa Guzman scored six points to lead the Lions. Crystal Jimenez, Cassie Aguilar, Maddie Wusstig, Kayla Bruce and Amanda Bruce also scored.
Jefferson (0-1) will play at home on Friday against Nestucca.
East Linn Christian 55, Triangle Lake 8
TRIANGLE LAKE — East Linn Christian rolled to the nonleague road win.
It was the season opener for the Eagles, who host the Silver Cross tournament starting Friday.
Central Linn 40, Siletz Valley 28
SILETZ — Central Linn had a good start to the season, taking a nonleague win at Siletz Valley.
Senior captain Kasey McLaughlin led the Cobras with 14 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists.
The Cobras (1-0) play at Taft on Friday.
St. Paul 47, Scio 32
ST. PAUL — Scio could not overcome St. Paul in the nonleague road loss.
The Loggers (0-1) head home to take on Kennedy on Friday.
Roseburg 61, West Albany 57
The Bulldogs could not push past Roseburg and fell in the nonleague home game.
West Albany (0-1) takes on Grants Pass at home on Friday.
