SWEET HOME — Kayla Bruce scored 11 points to lead Jefferson to a 47-28 win over Sweet Home.

Alana Silver led Sweet Home with 11.

Jefferson coach Nick Plotts chalked-up a defensive scheme based on pressure defense to overcome Sweet Home’s height advantage.

“We had to play fast and block-out their bigs,” Plotts said. “We got a lot of pressure, tonight, a lot of hands on balls. Kayla (Bruce) was the recipient with points in transition.”

Sweet Home (0-6) will host Siuslaw on Monday and Jefferson (2-2) will host Waldport on Friday.

South Albany 55, Franklin 43

Katie Mayhue led South with 24 points in the Rebels Tuesday night win.

South (5-1) will host Redmond on Friday.

Blanchet 49, Santiam Christian 34

SALEM — The Santiam Christian High girls team lost for just the first time this season on Tuesday.

“Blanchet is a tough team and that’s a tough place to play,” coach Wendi Farris said. “It was a good measuring stick game for us.”

The Eagles (3-1) will play at Creswell on Friday and then will play in a mid-week tournament beginning on the 21st.

Monroe 43, East Linn Christian 30

LEBANON — Despite 13 points from McKayla Horner, the Eagles fell to Monroe at home.

ELC (4-2) will face St. Paul in the St. Paul tournament on Monday. 

West Albany 51, Sprague 39

SALEM — In a game where 52 fouls were called, both teams had trouble getting going early. But West rallied late and put Sprague away in the third quarter, outscoring them 17-4. 

Saylor Siegner was the leading scorer for WA with 13 points. 

The Bulldogs (3-2, 2-0) will play at Sandy on Thursday. 

Bend 62, Lebanon 50

LEBANON – The Warriors fell to Bend at home, handed first loss of the year.

Lebanon (3-1) will play Thurston in the Lebanon Basketball tournament on Friday.
