West Albany used a strong finish to earn its first win of the season 43-40, at home against Roseburg on Tuesday night.
Cooper Getsfrid was a force for the Bulldogs with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Matt Ramirez scored all of his eight points in the fourth quarter, including hitting two big three pointers.
West (1-4, 0-1 GVC) continues league play at McMinnville on Friday.
Centennial 63, South Albany 53
South Albany’s defense broke down in the fourth quarter in a nonconference loss at Centennial.
The Rebels led 44-39 after three quarters before Centennial scored 24 in the final period.
“They hit some shots and we didn’t defend well enough like we should have,” South coach Justin Smith said. “And then we had trouble on the boards, which is a recipe that gets you beat.”
Dominick Crittenden and Cruz Vasquez had 13 points apiece to lead the Rebels.
South (3-2) hosts Glencoe on Thursday in another nonleague game.
Santiam Christian 42, Scio 35
Santiam Christian earned a home win against Scio.
Brady Patterson had 15 points for the Eagles and Dru Draper added 10.
Blake Lackner had a game-high 17 points for the Loggers.
SC (3-1) plays at St. Paul on Friday while Scio (2-3) plays Umatilla game one of the Amity Warrior Classic.
East Linn Christian 72, Monroe 37
East Linn Christian remains unbeaten on the year after a win at Monroe.
Austin Linville had a big night for the Eagles with 28 points.
Cody Johnson had 16 points for ELCA (4-0) who hosts Oakridge on Friday.
Waldport 50, Jefferson 40
Jefferson dropped its fourth game of the season at Waldport.
“We had a good finish,” said coach Nate Neuschwander. “The kids really battled.”
Cory Strait led all scorers with ten points.
Clayton Eriksen had nine rebounds. “He did a nice job on the boards,” said Neuschwander.
The Lions play at Willamina on Friday.
Yamhill-Carlton 52, Sweet Home 48
Sweet Home dropped its fourth game of the season at Yamhill-Carlton.
The Huskies travel to Estacada on Thursday.
