Dayton 1, Santiam Christian 0
ADAIR VILLAGE - Visiting Dayton defeated Santiam Christian 1-0 on Tuesday in a contest to determine the 3A Special District 4 boys soccer champion.
The Eagles had defeated Dayton 4-2 last week.
With the win, Dayton claims the top seed from the district in the upcoming state playoffs. The lone score came 60 minutes on an own goal by Santiam Christian.
"Dayton came out quite hard and we responded well early on, but we just
couldn't connect on the things that we know how to connect on," said Santiam Christian coach David Harvey. "We had plenty of opportunities to take control of the game ... but it was 22 guys playing hard and evenly matched."
Santiam Christian (11-3-1, 9-0) plays at Special District 5 champion Umatilla (10-0-2) next Tuesday to open the state playoffs.
