John Bates (Lebanon) had two catches for 17 yards Saturday in Boise State’s 28-17 loss at Fresno State.


Western Oregon’s Nathan Jones (Scio) was voted second-team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference at safety. Jones, a senior, finished the 2017 season with 45 tackles and two interceptions.


George Fox’s Grant Schroeder (Santiam Christian) was named second-team all-Northwest Conference at quarterback. Schroeder, a senior, is George Fox’s all-time leader in passing yards (7,015) and touchdowns (55).

Teammate and fellow senior Chase Hudson (Santiam Christian) received honorable mention on the offensive line.


College of the Redwoods’ Jakeb Cripe (Lebanon) was voted to the all-Pacific 7 League team on the defensive line. Cripe had 33 tackles and seven sacks during his freshman season.


Maddy Gravley (Santiam Christian) had six kills, seven block assists and two stuff blocks Friday in Oregon State’s five-set home loss to Oregon.

Last Wednesday, Gravley had three kills, two block assists and a dig in a 3-0 home loss to UCLA.

The Beavers open the NCAA tournament at 2:30 p.m. Friday against North Carolina State in Austin, Texas.


George Fox’s Madison Ross (Harrisburg) was an honorable mention all-Northwest Conference recipient at setter. The junior finished the season with 360 assists and 30 aces.

Men’s basketball

Nate Sherwood (West Albany) had 17 points, four rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal Saturday in Idaho’s 75-66 victory over Cal Poly. Teammate Chad Sherwood (West Albany) added five assists and two rebounds.

Friday, Nate Sherwood had three points, four assists and a rebound and Chad Sherwood three points, an assist and a rebound in a 64-62 loss to Cal State Bakersfield.

Last Wednesday, Nate Sherwood had nine points, five rebounds and an assist and Chad Sherwood two assists and a rebound in a 69-59 win over Santa Clara.

All games were part of the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.


Cooper Getsfrid (West Albany) had 10 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists Sunday in Linn-Benton’s 78-77 loss to Whatcom.

Saturday, Getsfrid had seven points, five rebounds and a steal in a 102-101 loss to Bellevue.

Friday, Getsfrid had six points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in a 113-81 win over Green River.

All games were part of the Pierce Tournament in Steilacoom, Washington.

Women’s basketball

Corey James (West Albany) had 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals Tuesday in Portland State’s 77-71 victory at Portland.

Last Wednesday, James had two points, two assists and a steal in a 91-77 loss at Seattle.


Maci Bozett (Lebanon) had 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal Tuesday in Corban’s 85-69 home loss to Northwest Christian in Salem.

Sunday, Bozett had four points and three rebounds in a 94-50 loss at Boise State.


Paige Graham (Scio) had three points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals last Wednesday in Linfield’s 79-53 home loss to Southern Oregon in McMinnville.
