Men’s track and field
Idaho’s Zack Short (Lebanon) placed third in the discus (167 feet, 3 inches) and seventh in the shot put (58-4¾) last weekend at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California.
Competing for Western Oregon, A.J. Holmberg (Scio) finished ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute, 53.02 seconds.
Jake LaCoste (West Albany) tied for eighth in the high jump (6-2¾) and finished 24th in the long jump (21-3¼) last week at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
Josiah Stroup (Lebanon) ran a leg on Oregon Tech’s 4x100 relay team that set a new school record with a winning time of 42.52 at last weekend’s San Francisco State Distance Carnival in Hayward, California.
Stroup also finished 28th in the 100 (11.5) and ran a leg on the Owls’ fourth-place 1,600 sprint medley relay.
Teammate Alexander Turkins (South Albany) finished 16th in the hammer (139-06) and 20th in the discus (122-09).
George Fox’s Nicholas Armour (Santiam Christian) was 17th in the 100 in 11.82 in Saturday’s California Collegiate Open in San Diego. Armour was also 22nd in the long jump with a best mark of 19-6¼.
Women’s track and field
Allison Young (West Albany) placed 18th in the 400 hurdles (1:15.6), 29th in the 100 hurdles (20.06) and ran a leg on Oregon Tech’s 4x400 relay team that finished sixth at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
George Fox’s Tahnisha Manibusan (South Albany) finished 18th in the discus (113-7) and 21st in the hammer (112-3) at the California Collegiate Open.
Concordia’s Jaxson Daskalos (West Albany) finished in a tie for 14th with a 79-68-72—221 this week at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, California.
Kelsey Broadus (West Albany) pitched two innings of perfect relief with three strikeouts to get the save Tuesday in Boise State’s 6-3 victory at Idaho State.
Saturday, Broadus improved to 8-5 after allowing one unearned run on three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in five innings in an 11-1 win at San Diego State.
Last Thursday, Broadus went the distance and gave up three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and four walks in a 3-1 loss at San Diego State.
Julia Smith-Harrington (West Albany) allowed three runs on four hits in two-plus innings with three walks and a strikeout Saturday in Towson’s 8-4 home loss to Delaware.
Last Wednesday, Smith-Harrington pitched five shutout innings with three strikeouts and three walks in an 8-0 victory over visiting Sienna.
Cheyanne Rimer (Scio) went a combined 2 for 7 with a solo home run Saturday as Western Oregon split a doubleheader with Saint Martin’s in Lacey, Washington.
Friday, Rimer went a combined 2 for 10 with two RBIs and a run scored in a sweep of Central Washington in Ellensburg, Washington.
Kaylee Buhrkuhl (Santiam Christian) went a combined 5 for 7 with two doubles, a triple and five RBIs Saturday as Corban dropped both legs of a road doubleheader with Southern Oregon in Ashland.
Friday, Buhrkuhl went a combined 0 for 6 with a walk and two runs scored in a split at Southern Oregon.
Emily Marchbanks (Sweet Home) went the distance and allowed five runs (four earned) on 12 hits with six strikeouts and two walks Tuesday in Newberry’s 5-2 home loss to Catawba in Newberry, South Carolina.
Friday, Marchbanks threw five innings of one-run ball on two hits in a 10-2 victory at Mars Hill in Chandler, North Carolina.
Hannah Yelas (Santiam Christian) allowed 11 hits, six earned runs and no walks with one strikeout in 3⅔ innings Saturday in Northwest’s 8-0, six-inning loss at College of Idaho in Caldwell.
A day earlier, Yelas pitched a complete game, giving up six hits, one earned run and no walks with five strikeouts in a 2-1 win at College of Idaho.
Nicole Whitney (Santiam Christian) went a combined 0 for 4 with a walk last Thursday in San Diego Christian’s two home losses to Colombia in Santee, California.
Last Wednesday, Whitney went a combined 2 for 5 with two doubles, one RBI and a run scored in two losses at Embry-Riddle in Prescott, Arizona.
Kennedy Jantzi (West Albany) went 2 for 4 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored Tuesday in Mt. Hood’s 15-1, five-inning victory at Grays Harbor in Aberdeen, Washington.
Saturday, Jantzi went a combined 4 for 7 with a double and a run scored in a sweep of Clackamas in Oregon City.
Friday, Jantzi went a combined 2 for 6 with two runs scored in a split with Lower Columbia in Longview, Washington.
Renel Koker (Lebanon) went a combined 2 for 6 Saturday as Clackamas was swept in a home doubleheader by Mt. Hood.
Friday, Koker went a combined 5 for 9 with a home run, six RBIs and two runs scored in a home sweep of Clark.
Logan Nousen (Harrisburg) pitched two innings of scoreless relief Saturday in Oregon Tech’s 5-4 home loss to Corban in Klamath Falls.
Darren Crosby (Santiam Christian) allowed a hit and struck out one in one scoreless inning Friday in Whitworth’s 5-1 win at Lewis & Clark in Portland.
Josh Gerig (East Linn Christian) went 1 for 1 with two walks Tuesday in Howard Payne’s 9-8 loss at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas.
Alex Pynes (West Albany) went 0 for 1 Saturday in Shasta’s 5-4 victory at Feather River in Quincy, California.
Jackson Soto (West Albany) went a combined 1 for 6 Friday as Lane dropped both legs of a home doubleheader with Edmonds in Eugene.
Evan Cyrus (West Albany) scored a run Saturday in Linn-Benton’s 3-2 victory at Mt. Hood in Gresham.
Friday, Cyrus went 1 for 4 in a 4-3 home loss to Mt. Hood.
