PORTLAND — The Linn-Benton men's basketball team fell to Portland Community College 89-80 in a Northwest Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday.
The Roadrunners (11-4, 1-1) were led by Bailey Evers with 18 points. Cooper Getsfrid and Riley Davis had 14 points apiece, while Adam Harvey scored 12 and Taylor Jensen grabbed eight rebounds.
The Panthers (13-2, 2-0) were led by Gabe Garrett with 29 points and Lane Josi with 25. The league's top team in the South region also got 14 rebounds and 11 points from Cameron Retherford.
LBCC coach Everett Hartman said his team dug itself into a hole in the first half. The Roadrunners outscored the Panthers 50-49 in the second half but couldn't make up the deficit. Hartman also said his team's 25 turnovers hurt.
The Roadrunners travel to Roseburg on Wednesday to take on Umpqua.
PORTLAND — The LBCC women lost to Portland 59-48 on Saturday.
The Roadrunners' high scorer was Madeline Oakden with 14 points. Kelsey Wells added nine rebounds and 10 points.
LBCC was without key player Breanna Bronson, who is nursing an ankle injury.
Eliyah Fernandez led the Panthers (5-8, 1-1) with 15 points and Aiyana Gilliard chipped in with 14.
Roadrunners coach Debbie Herrold said, "We were just flat." She noted that it was one of those games where her team struggled in every aspect.
LBCC (6-8, 1-1) plays top-ranked Umpqua on Wednesday.
