The Linn-Benton Community College baseball team swept a NWAC South Division doubleheader from Chemeketa at LBCC on Friday, stretching its winning streak to six games.
The Roadrunners won the nine-inning opener 3-0, and the seven-inning nightcap 2-1. They are 3-0 in the series, which concludes on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Salem. LBCC (18-2, 7-1) has allowed just one run in the first 25 innings of the series, which started on April 3 with a 1-0 win at CCC.
Brock Townsend pitched a complete-game three-hitter in the opener. He had five strikeouts, threw 63 strikes in 90 pitches, and faced just two batters over the nine-inning minimum.
Chase Cosner was 2 for 5 with an RBI, Cole Hamilton had two hits and two runs and Richard Mascarenas was 2 for 2 for LBCC.
Hamilton's one-out sacrifice fly in the seventh inning drove in the winning run in the second game. Damon Peters was 3 for 4 with a run and Josh Congdon was 2 for 3 with a run and a double.
Pitchers Jose Chavez, Darren Brown and Jordan McDaniel combined on a five-hitter; McDaniel pitched a scoreless seventh and was credited with the win.
