VANCOUVER, Wash. — Brock Townsend struck out 12 and allowed one hit and one walk in a seven-inning complete game to help Linn-Benton open a Northwest Conference doubleheader with a 12-0 win over Clark on Friday.
LB continued its win streak — now at 23 — with a 10-3 victory in the nightcap. The teams meet again Saturday at LBCC for another doubleheader.
In the opener, the Roadrunners (35-2, 22-1 South Region) scored two in the first and five more in the second to take command.
Richard Mascarenas had three RBIs and Cole Carder, Fridtjof Fremstad and Tate Cowden all had two as the bottom of the lineup produced.
Mascarenas and Joshua Congdon had four hits each while Carder and Chase Cosner contributed three each as the Roadrunners had 17 hits as a team. Fremstad homered while Congdon and Mascarenas both had two doubles.
In the second game, LB scored three in the fifth and seven in the seventh beofere giving up three in the bottom of the inning to deny the Roadrunners a shutout in both games.
Congdon, Fremstad and Derek Dardzinski all had two hits and Congdon drove in three runs and Dardzinski two.
