COOS BAY — The beat goes on for the Linn-Benton Community College baseball team, which swept Southwestern Oregon on Friday in a Northwest Athletic Conference South Region doubleheader.

The Roadrunners (30-2, 17-1) won the opener 5-2 and took the seven-inning nightcap 7-0. LB has now won 18 straight games.

Tate Cowden had two hits and two RBIs in the opener.

The teams meet again at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader at LB on Saturday. There will be special activities taking place before the first pitch. A tailgate starts at noon, hosted by Steve Carothers, a 1993 NWAC Hall of Fame inductee and former player on LB’s first baseball team in 1971.

A special ceremony dedicating LB’s new infield turf will take place at 12:40 p.m., and will feature a surprise special guest.
